Police Investigating Over $4700 Stolen Equipment

Newport police were called Tuesday to a location on Cope Blvd.. where a large amount of equipment had been stolen. Among the items stolen were a 4 wheeler trailer, a Stihl chainsaw, a Homelight antique saw, a cast iron wood stove, logging chains, an Alaskan portable saw mill, and a Northern Tool chain binder. That all added up to almost $4700 worth of equipment. Newport officer Justin Shelton found some of the items at a homeless camp nearby. Two men in a tent told officer Shelton that Candace Foster & Jerrod Martin had brought the items there. Among the items recovered was the Alaskan portable saw mill. Over $3300 of equipment is still missing. Police are investigating.
