Police Investigating Shooting In Morristown
Early Monday morning Morristown police were called to the Morristown Hamblen Hospital emergency room in reference to a gunshot wound. 20 year old Marcos Garcia claimed that he was in the College Square Mall parking lot near the Longhorn Steak House Sunday night when 2 men approached his car…both of them armed and demanded money…Garcia stated he put his car in reverse to get away and they shot him. He says he drove home where his mother then transported him to the hospital. In interviewing Garcia’s mother, Alajandra Perez…she stated she and her son had been at College Square Mall earlier in the day but had returned home…the shooting taking place outside the home.
A detective investigating the shooting was able to get Garcia to admit he lied about the location of the shooting. He told the detective that he was getting his sisters mail at the mail boxes located in front of the main office for Eastwood Mobile Home Park. Shattered glass and a 9mm bullet casing were found at the location. Police have no suspects at this time in that shooting.
