Police Respond To Man Laying In Middle Of Road

Police were called Wednesday afternoon to Graham Street near the intersection with Nutmeg about a man screaming and laying down in the middle of the road. Officer Jordon Douglass found the man in the middle of the road with a green substance all around the inside of his mouth. The male subject was combative and had to be handcuffed plus have leg restraints put on him…and admitted to taking methamphetamine and suboxone. EMS was called to the scene, but due to the man’s violent state, they declined to take him to the emergency room, instead opting for the county jail. The man was identified as 34 year old John Shehee, who upon arrival at the jail began breathing rapidly and not responding to anything around him. With the District Attorney’s consent, Shehee was placed in the care of the Newport Medical Center…charges are pending against him upon his release.
