Police Respond To One Vehicle Accident

Police responded to a one vehicle accident early Tuesday morning on East Broadway. Steven Jones had ran into a power pole and was found bleeding from the nose. He told an officer that he was in the passenger side and someone else was driving, except that there was blood in the car, but only on the driver’s side. The passenger seat also had objects covering it that would not have been there if someone had been in that seat. An open bottle of liquor was found in the vehicle. Officers investigated and found that Jones had left an address in an intoxicated state. Jones was transported to the Newport Medical Center for his injuries. He is being charged with DUI. Newport Utilities had to respond and fix the downed utility pole.
