Police Respond To Unresponsive Male

Newport police were called Saturday morning to the parking lot of Costner-Malloy Funeral home about an unresponsive male subject sitting in a vehicle. Officers arrived and found a 79 year old male in the drivers’ seat of the SUV with a fatal gunshot wound to the chest. A revolver was found laying on the center armrest underneath the man’s right arm. The death is being ruled a suicide.
