President Trump Pardons Rep. Harshbarger’s Husband
President Donald Trump has issued a pardon for the husband of Diana Harshbarger, the current US Rerpresentative for Tennessee’s first district. Back in 2013, pharmacist Robert Harshbarger, pleaded guilty in federal court to one count of distribution of misbranded kidney dialysis drugs and one count of health care fraud.
Between 2004 and 2009, Harshbarger was doing business as American Inhalation Medication Specialists, Inc. Federal officials say that he sold iron sucrose that had not been certified by the FDA to meet quality and safety standards. Harshbarger says he had purchased the iron sucrose from two companies in China because it was cheaper. Although no one was injured because of Harshbarger’s actions, he was prosecuted and plead guilty. He received a sentence of 48 months in prison and to pay restitution of over $800,000. Even though Harshbarger has already done his time and paid his fines, he was pardoned by the President, who has endorsed Diana Harshbarger for re-election.
