Provision Ballot Could Decide CLB Seat

When the dust settled from the Cocke County general election on Thursday night, one race was left undetermined. That race affects the Cocke County Legislative Board. In CLB District 3, Post 2, the candidates Tracy Stepp and Terry Dawson finished in a tie. Both had 420 votes cast for them.

Provisional ballots, that includes absentee and mail-in ballots, have not been counted yet. According to Josh Blanchard, Cocke County’s Administer of Elections, those ballots will be counted on Tuesday August 9 at 11am. There is one ballot among those that is from the third district. That one ballot could decide that race. COULD is the operative word. We will have to wait till next Tuesday to find out.
