Quaker Expands Recall Of Granola Products
The Tennessee Health Department is encouraging residents to check to make sure they do not have any of a long list of recalled Quaker Oats products. Back in mid-December, Quaker had announced a recall of recall of specific granola bars and granola cereals because they may have been contaminated with Salmonella. Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. According to information on Quaker’s website, in rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections, endocarditis and arthritis.
Quaker has announced an expansion of the recalled products. Be aware that the list of recalled products is very long and includes other products such as Lay’s chip boxes that contain Quaker granola bars. The list also contains several different types of Cap N’ Crunch cereal. You can find the complete list of recalled products by going to the website QuakerRecallUSA.com.
Quaker is offering refunds for affected products.
