Rash Of TDOT Trucks Hit Spreads To Cocke County
After a rash of TDOT trucks being struck on the highways of Tennessee, state officials including state representative Jeremy Faison are reminding drivers to be alert for these TDOT trucks. Five TDOT trucks were struck during the month of October. Then, on Friday November 3, another TDOT truck was hit from behind near exit 435 in Cocke County on I-40. According to Mark Nagi with TDOT, Unlike the five trucks that were struck in October, which were HELP trucks, this was what they call a queue truck that was in place to protect traffic that was backed up on I-40 at Exit 435 because of a crash that happened at MM 439. Nagi says the crash happened because the driver apparently did not see the truck and struck the back right side it. Nagi, says that in 2023… 22 TDOT HELP trucks have been hit this year, and that total does not include other vehicles, such as the queue truck that was struck on I-40 in Cocke County on Friday. Representative Faison says drivers need to pay attention and move over when they see these trucks.
