Re-Entry Simulation
Successful re-entry into the community after incarceration is something that is difficult. It’s a complex process filled with significant barriers and obstacles that often times leads to frustration and even re incarceration. Thankfully, Westcare Tennessee is offering a way to understand these experiences with a re-entry simulation event. The re-entry simulation simulates the struggles and challenges faced by individuals who are transitioning from incarceration back into society. The goal is for participants to gain an understanding of the significant obstacles faced by men and women attempting to navigate the system upon their release from jail and returning home to their communities. During the 2 hour simulation event, participants will assume the identity of a re-entrant with instructions from the facilitator and will then set out to navigate the challenges of re-entry. The re-entry simulation is open to anyone who wishes to gain a better understanding of the profoundly burdensome hurdles facing people leaving incarceration. The event happens Saturday, from 5 til 7pm at Faith Hope Love Church, 466 East Plaza Shopping Center, near Food City in Downtown Newport. Registration is required.
