Roadwork To Be Aware Of

If you will be driving on I-40 east towards North Carolina this weekend or next week, be aware of some construction going on. TDOT says motorists on I-40 East between Mile Marker 443 and 444.5 need to be alert for possible lane closures between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. as crews are working to repair and stabilize the slope next to the interstate. Motorists should be alert for workers being present in that area and also for slow or stopped traffic. TDOT says motorists need to use extreme caution in that area.

In Jefferson County this Sunday, April 16, I-40 east and westbound between Mile Markers 417 and 424, motorists should be alert for a series of rolling roadblocks between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. as utility crews perform overhead line work.

There is also that ongoing road work on I-40 west near the Rest Area around mile marker 427. A lane shift is currently in place in that area.
