Rob Mathis & CJ Ball Claim Victory

It was a big night for Rob Mathis as the people of Cocke County overwhelmingly elected him for County Mayor to replace outgoing mayor Crystal Ottinger. Rob Mathis defeated two challengers…mainly Clay Blazer. But, he won the race handily getting 68% of the vote…the totals…Rob Mathis 4,660…Clay Blazer…1,985 and Casey Jones 189.
While it was a big night for Rob Mathis…CJ Ball also had a good night as he was elected the next sheriff of Cocke County to replace outgoing sheriff Armando Fontes. CJ Ball…who is the current Chief Deputy faced a challenge by former chief deputy John Carrell. Ball won 16 of the 18 precincts in the county…scoring 56% of the vote…final tally…CJ Ball 3,887 votes to John Carrell’s 2,998.
Both will be sworn in to their new jobs on September 1st.
