Robotics Camp For Cocke County Students
Cocke County’s Cradle To Career coalition…better known as C5…has a special opportunity for some Cocke County youth. 6th through 8th graders have the chance to explore underwater robotics. The company “Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs” out of Elgin, IL. will be hosting an Underwater Robotics Camp that explores the underwater world of remote operated vehicles or ROV’s and the real-world applications of that field. There will be a 4-day camp from July 18-21, 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM, each day at the Walters State Newport Center which is in the Tanner Building. The camp aims to keep your child busy both mentally and physically. Teams will work together to design, build, and test a SeaMATE PufferFish ROV underwater robot!!! They will also learn how robots are used to support work that has been traditionally performed by people. The typical cost for this class is $199, but Cocke County C5 has some scholarships available that will allow Cocke County students to attend the class for FREE. There are a limited number of spots are available. If interested, contact Nicole Cardwell-Hampton at 423-585-6756.
