Saharan Dust Heads To East Tennessee
Trade winds from the Atlantic Ocean will be bringing something into East Tennessee over the weekend and you may want to grab your camera. Weather experts say that winds from Africa have brought dust from the Sahara Desert across the Atlantic Ocean. The dust plume is in the Caribbean but is expected to be pulled into the southeastern US and into the Southern Appalachian region this weekend. The Saharan Dust is not expected to cause any air quality issues as it heads west across East Tennessee and the Smoky Mountains, but experts say it will have an effect on the sunset. The sunset may have a pink hue to it over the weekend on Saturday and Sunday nights. That will make for some very beautiful sunsets this weekend. The dust plume is expected to be over Middle Tennessee by the early-mid part of next week.
