Starting on Friday and going through Sunday, school supplies, clothing and computers will be tax free in the state. Also starting Friday and going through next Thursday August 5th, there will be a sales tax holiday on food in the state. Groceries from prepared foods to the ingredients to prepare meals will be tax free. Alcohol, candy and dietary products are exempt and will still be taxed. That sales tax holiday also includes meals you eat out at restaurants. You can find all the information about what is included and what is exempted by going to tn.gov/revenue.
The state currently has a sales tax holiday on gun safes and gun safety equipment. That sales tax holiday is in effect until June 30, 2022.
