SC Man Arrested For Shooting In Sevier County

A South Carolina man is in custody in Sevier County after a shooting incident at a local rental cabin that left a woman dead. Sevier County Sheriff Ron Seals says that at around 1:00PM on Saturday, the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a rental cabin on Caney Creek Road stating that a female had been shot. Officers arrived on the scene a few minutes later and found a female inside the cabin deceased from a gunshot wound. After an investigation police arrested 21 year old Julian A. Popoca of Wellford S.C. ,who was also staying at the cabin. Police have charged him with 2nd Degree Murder in connection with the shooting death of that woman. The identity of the victim, who is also from South Carolina is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Popoca is being held in the Sevier County Jail pending an arraignment.
