SC Man Jailed After Wreck

A South Carolina man is in the Cocke County jail after wrecking his vehicle on the Foothills Parkway. Deputies found the vehicle Saturday night near the Cosby Highway entrance to the parkway. The driver was Kenneth Campbell of Leasville, SC who stated he didn’t realize the curve was as sharp as it was and he left the roadway and hit a tree. Markings on the pavement showed that Campbell had been driving at an excessive speed and deputies observed the smell of alcohol coming from him. A loaded Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun was found in the vehicle along with 58 rounds of ammunition. Campbell was charged with DUI and possession of a handgun while under the influence.
