Sean Williams Back In Court Next Week
Sean Williams will be back in East Tennessee next week. Williams is due in court next Thursday, December 21 for a hearing that was originally scheduled for October 18. However, that is the day that Williams broke out of an inmate transport van near downtown Greeneville. He remained on the loose for over a month before finally being apprehended near Tampa, Florida on November 21. He has been in the custody of federal authorities ever since.
Williams’ court appearance in October was for a hearing on a motion made by his appointed attorney Bryce McKenzie, who wants to withdraw from the case. The judge will now hear that motion next Thursday. Williams will also be arraigned that day on escape charges that he now faces.
Sean Williams’ trial on federal child pornography charges is set to begin on January 23 in Greeneville, but that trial will almost certainly be delayed if McKenzie is allowed to withdraw as Williams’ attorney.
Williams also faces numerous other charges including federal weapons charges and multiple charges of rape. Williams, a former Johnson City businessman, is accused of raping at least 50 women at an apartment in Johnson City.
