Several People Injured In Crash Sunday Morning

Several people were transported to the Newport Medical Center after a crash at Cosby Hwy and I-40 Sunday morning. A witness told police that a car driven by Bobby Carmony of Tazwell, TN was turning from northbound Cosby Hwy onto westbound I-40 exit ramp when a 2007 Ford Explorer driven by 78 year old Peggy Hall was driving southbound on Cosby Hwy and ran the red light colliding with Carmony’s 2019 Dodge Challenger. All parties, including a 17, 12 and 10 year old in Carmony’s car were injured and transported to the hospital. Peggy Hall suffered possible serious injuries in that crash. It was raining and the road conditions were wet at the time of the crash.
