Sevierville Man Killed In Indiana Crash
A man From Sevierville is dead after being involved in an automobile crash over the weekend in Indianapolis. Indiana State Police say they were called to an accident on Interstate 65 Saturday afternoon near mile marker 113. According to witnesses, the man was driving southbound on I-65 in a 2015 BMW at a high rate of speed, when he came upon some congested traffic. A semi-truck had come to a complete stop due to the congested traffic. The BMW ran into the back of the tractor trailer and then burst into flames. Witnesses stated that several bystanders tried to rescue the man from the burning car, but the flames were too intense. Firefighters arrived on the scene and extinguished the flames, but police say that 28 year old Edward Chekhun of Sevierville was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators with the Indiana State Police are awaiting blood tests to see if alcohol played a part in that fatal crash.
