Sheriff’s Deputies Arrest Convicted Felon
Cocke County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man this week who was a convicted felon. A deputy spotted a Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling at a high rate of speed down the Clevenger Cut-off Road. That vehicle continued onto Carson Springs Road, then onto eastbound Hwy 25/70. speeds at times reached over 100 mile an hour. The driver was 50 year old Billy Hance of Newport. He drove through the Osaka parking lot then up to Old Knoxville Highway and onto Linden Street where he finally came to a stop on Alex Street. Nearly 12 grams of marijuana was found in the vehicle with a digital pocket scale. Police also found a loaded 22LR pistol in the vehicle. Hance is a convicted felon who was in possession of a weapon. He faces that charge plus schedule VI drug charges and reckless driving and evading arrest charges as well.
