Shoes And Guns Taken In Break-In
Newport police responded to a break-in at a home on McSween Springs Road one week ago. Homeowner Dustin Rankins told police on Friday, December 20, that days before he had a woman inside his home and she inquired about his collection of shoes that he had. She also noticed several guns he had in view. Rankins stated the woman was interested in buying some shoes for her boyfriend. He stated that last Friday, the woman and a man came to his home to buy some of the shoes. The pair asked question about whether he had more shoes and guns in the house, which made him uncomfortable and he asked them to leave.
Rankins stated that he watched the two drive away, then he also left his home moments later. When he returned, his front door was wide open and several pairs of Air Jordan shoes were missing along with about five guns, which included a Daniel Defense AR-10 .308 with eotech red dot worth $2300 and a Winchester 94 Abe Lincoln edition valued at $1500. The total amount of items lost totaled $9,900. No arrests have been made yet.
