Shoplifting Leads To Two Arrests
Newport police responded Tuesday night to a report of a shoplifter at Walmart. Upon arrival the loss prevention officer at Wal-Mart stated that he observed a male suspect, identified as 21 year old Tyler Kimble, conceal two corn dogs, three egg rolls, and two padlocks in his pockets. The total value of the items was $31.36. Kimble was placed under arrest for shoplifting. In Kimble’s right pocket, police found a pill container containing .13 grams of a white crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine. After being taken into the jail, a corrections officer notified Newport officer Lindsay Laughter that as Kimble was changing into jail clothing…two needles had been found concealed in Kimble’s anal cavity . Also Laughter was advised that Kimble’s girlfriend, 21 year old Josalen Demery, was still at Walmart and had a warrant for failure to appear out of Cocke County General Sessions Court. Laughter returned to Walmart where she located Demery in the parking lot and placed her under arrest as well.
