Soaky Mountain Water Park Shooting Update
An update on that fatal shooting that happened Saturday evening at Soaky Mountain water park in Sevierville. Investigators say that An off-duty EMT had been drinking when she shot at a vehicle several times before she shot at people trying to stop her in the parking lot of Soaky Mountain Waterpark…killing one woman and wounding another. The Sevierville Police Department said it’s believed a fight broke out in the waterpark parking lot which then escalated into a shooting with 31 year old off-duty EMT Sarah Romine shooting into a vehicle with several people inside including 24 year old Kelsey Cook who was hit in the neck. She was airlifted to UT Medical Center where she was pronounced dead Saturday night. As several people got out of the car to confront Romine she fired several more shots hitting 23 year old Angie Russell of Louden in the leg…sending her to Leconte Medical Center.
Sarah Romine has been charged with second-degree murder, multiple counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm while intoxicated. She is being held on a $350,000 bond. A second individual, 30 year old Joshua Dannels of Crossville was also arrested charged with possession of a firearm while intoxicated…he has now been released after posting a $2500 bond.
Soaky Mountain Water Park began selling alcohol this year…and had been cited by the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission for alcohol related problems…they were fined $1500 on July 23rd…just 8 days before the shooting.
