Spay & Neuter Grants Available For Animal Shelters
Grants are being made available for Tennessee Animal Shelters to host spay and neuter clinics. The Animal Friendly Grants program, managed by the Tennessee Department of Agriculture’s Animal Health Division, benefits from sales of Animal Friendly – Spay and Neuter Saves Lives specialty license plates. Each $35 purchase of those license plates contributes to the grants. Those are then made available to government-run shelters and non-profit organizations in Tennessee to offer affordable spaying and neutering services.
Grant allocations are determined by the organization’s outreach, including the number of animals served and the counties reached. Priority is given to shelters and organizations serving distressed counties. Funds cover spay and neuter procedures only and those procedures must be done by a licensed Tennessee veterinarian at a Tennessee clinic.
Applications for these grants are being accepted until May 17. You can purchase the Animal Friendly – Spay and Neuter Saves Lives license plates at the Cocke County Clerk’s office or online. You can also get those via the MyTN mobile app on your phone or tablet.
