Stabbing At Dean’s Bar
Cocke County police were called over the Labor Day weekend to a fight in progress at Dean’s Bar that’s on Armory Road. One man who was bleeding from his chest and arms claimed he had been stabbed. The man, Tyler Clevenger told Deputy Pickens that he was involved in a fight with some people outside the bar when he got stabbed by an older man. While speaking with him the older gentleman walked up and people began screaming. Deputy Smith was able to take that male and detain him for further investigation. Smith conducted a pat down of the subject and located two knifes on the subject identified as 63 year old Clifton Shelton.
Deputies found another man laying on the ground who had a cut above his eye and blood coming out of his ear. That victim was identified as Matthew Shelton. He was extremely intoxicated and would only say that he had been “jumped.” A third victim identified as Justin Clevenger had also been stabbed in the right arm. Matthew. Witnesses on the scene stated that a fight had begun inside and continued outside when the 63 year old Shelton came outside and according to witnesses was “waving” a knife around. It was determined through statements from the victims and the witnesses that Clifton Shelton stabbed both Tyler and Justin Clevenger during the fight. Justin Clevenger was able to identify the knife taken off Shelton as the knife used in the stabbing and upon further examination Deputies observed blood on the knife. Tyler Clevenger had to be transported to UT Medical Center for his injuries. Clifton Shelton has been charged with aggravated assault.
