State Unemployment Rate Rises For August
The state’s unemployment rate went up just a tick in the month of August. In July Tennessee’s unemployment rate was 3.3%…that just above the all-time low of 3.2%. In August that number went up one tenth of a percentage point to 3.4%. At the same time last year the state’s unemployment rate sat at 4%. Over the past year employers have added nearly 115,000 jobs in Tennessee. The national unemployment rate rose as well in August from 3.5% to 3.7%. Individual county numbers will be released next week.
