Statewide Death Toll From Winter Storm Reaches 14
The death toll from the recent winter storm has now reached 14 in Tennessee. The majority of those deaths were in west and middle Tennessee. Three of those deaths attributed to the winter storm were in East Tennessee. Two people were killed earlier this week in Washington County when a 72 year old man lost control of his Chevrolet Silverado pickup and slammed head on into an ambulance transporting a patient. The driver of the Silverado was killed along with the patient that was in the ambulance. The two paramedics in the ambulance were also injured, but were treated and released.
The other death from this week’s storm was in Knox County. That happened when the driver of a box truck lost control on I-75 and slammed into the back of a semi-truck that was stopped because of a multi-vehicle crash. The driver of the box truck, 50 year old Marlo Jackson of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida was pinned inside the wreckage and died at the scene.
