Stolen Motorcycle Crashed In Newport
Newport police say a man was injured after crashing a motorcycle into a fence on 6th Street Thursday afternoon. Police were called to the scene after a concerned citizen called 911 about the crash. Police found a badly damaged gray Suzuki motorcycle lying next to the fence. Blood droplets at the scene and then leading away from it, have led police to believe the rider of the motorcycle was injured. That driver though had fled on foot. A witness stated that the man was wearing an orange shirt, but could provide no other details.
A check of the license plate on the motorcycle showed it to be stolen out of Morristown. A Morristown Police Department detective told Newport police that 22 year old Jacob Martin is the prime suspect in that theft. Martin has not yet been found. Anyone with information about this case should contact the Newport Police Department.
