Sweet 16 Turns Sour For Tennessee Vols
The sweet 16 turned out to be sour for the Tennessee Volunteers last night in New York City. The Vols led for pretty much all of the first half and continued to hold that lead until midway through the second half. However, the Vols did not take advantage of nine FAU turnovers in the first half. The Florida Atlantic Owls would finally find their wings and the shots started dropping with the Owls going on a 16-2 run with around 8 minutes to go and took the lead. They would not relinquish it. The same time that FAU got hot, the Vols offense got cold. Florida Atlantic bounced Tennessee out of the tournament with a 62-55 win…it’s a bitter pill to swallow for Rick Barnes’ Tennessee Vols who thought they had what it takes to get to the Final Four.
#9 seed Florida Atlantic will take on #3 seed Kansas State tomorrow with the winner going to the Final Four next weekend.
