Swift Water Rescue Teams Busy During Recent Weather

The Cocke County Emergency Management Agency is hailing their Swift Water rescue Team after that team rescued several people from flood waters on Tuesday. The Swift Water Rescue team was busy with four rescues in a 16 hour period on Tuesday. EMA Director Joe Esway was quick to credit several swift water rescue team members that participated in all four rescues…Walt Cross, Cody Keys, Luke Dixon, Zach Holt, Alex Reese and Josh Smith.

Esway also thanked the dispatchers, rescue squads, area fire departments as well as the sheriff’s office and ambulance service for their part in those rescues.

In a Facebook post Esway stated “I am immensely grateful for our County Mayor who supports the team in every way, and our County Chairman and Legislative Body who year-in and year-out give me the budget I ask for to ensure these brave men are properly trained and equipped to do a job very few are capable of.”
