Tennessee Smokies One Win Away From Championship

The Tennessee Smokies have not won the Southern League Championship in nearly 20 years. But, the Smokies are now one win away from doing just that. After losing game 1 of their semifinal series against Rocket City, the Smokies went on the road and won the final two games of that best of three series to advance. Last night the Smokies scored early at Pensacola and used the pitching of highly touted Cubs prospect DJ Herz to take game 1 of the Southern league championship series last night.
The Smokies will host Pensacola for game 2 tomorrow night at Smokies Stadium in Kodak. A win, and the Tennessee Smokies will have their first championship since 2004.
