Tense Situation Resolved For Morristown Police
A tense situation for two Morristown men and a police officer. Early Monday a patrol officer pulled into the Fastop on east Andrew Johnson Hwy where he spotted a black Cadillac CTS at the gas pump. A check showed the vehicle had been reported stolen in Hamblen County and two men were sitting inside. The officer approached the vehicle with service weapon drawn and advised the two men to exit the vehicle…and they complied. When backup officers arrived the two men were handcuffed. A tense situation was relieved when officers were notified that the vehicle had been reported stolen on August 15th but had been recovered on August 17th. A check with the owner found that the driver of the Cadillac was operating the vehicle with permission. The two men were then released. The Cadillac was then removed from NCIC as a stolen vehicle.
