The Heat Is On…
Temperatures have been heating up all week in East Tennessee and on Thursday, we can expect the thermometer to reach into the upper part of the 90’s…possible getting up to 97. With the heat comes increased power usage as residents try to stay cool in the AC. The TVA has put out some tips to help cut down on your energy usage during the hot weather while staying cool and save a little money on your electric bill…
First…Turn the temperature on your thermostat up one notch…the TVA says – even 1 degree makes a difference
Second…Use fans to move air – they use far less power than your AC and will help your air conditioner work better
Third…the TVA says Keep the blinds on the sunny side of your house closed to help reduce the heat coming into your home…and
Finally…they say Grill outside instead of using your oven….that way you cut down on the heat in your home.
The TVA says they expect to provide 30,000 megawatts of power on Thursday, which would be the highest usage day so far this year.
