Three Arrested at Newport Motel
Newport police spotted a car early Saturday morning parked behind the Relax Inn on Hwy 25/70. a man was in the driver seat of that vehicle who then climbed through the vehicle and exited the passenger side. Officer Paul Weber confronted the man identified as 31 year old Brandon Holt who dropped a battle cap filled with a filter used in the use of narcotics. Holt stated he was having an argument with his sister but no one was around. As Weber checked holt for warrants, Holt fled on foot. Officer Weber tased Holt and attempted to get him into custody, but Holt fought with the officer getting away. Weber then tased Holt again. Holt fell to the ground but quickly got back up and fled into the woods. Holt later returned to the Relax Inn and was then taken into custody without incident. He had multiple warrants out of Hamblen County for resisting arrest, evading arrest, and violation of probation.
During the time between Brandon Holt fleeing and later being taken into custody…two other individuals were arrested at the Relax Inn. Michael Holt and Anjelica Punders were found at the Relax Inn while police were conducting an investigation regarding Brandon Holt. Michael Holt was confirmed to have an NCIC hit for a parole violation from the Tennessee Department of Corrections. He was also confirmed to have an active arrest warrant out of Jefferson County for violation of probation. Anjelica Pounders was confirmed to have three active arrest warrants out of Jefferson County for contempt of court and two counts of failure to appear. Both of those individuals were also placed under arrest Saturday morning.
