Three Arrested For Drug Activity

Three individuals were arrested after they engaged in drug activity in a Newport storage facility. The incident started when office Lindsay Laughter discovered a car parked illegally at Newport Storage on west Broadway. Upon inspecting the vehicle, which had the wrong tag displayed, she was confronted by 47 year old Christopher Trent who told the officer she had no business looking around his car where several used syringes had been found. Trent became aggressive towards Laughter who called for backup. Officer Paul Weber assisted and the two were able to get Christopher Trent in custody. Also arrested were Trent’s 21 year old son Justin and 20 year old Shelby Gunter. The three had evidently been using a storage unit to sleep and do drugs as several more syringes were found in one of the units. Christopher Trent was charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Justin Trent was also charged with disorderly conduct as well as possession of drug paraphernalia…Gunter was charged with public intoxication.
