Three Charged In Drug Dump At Local Treatment Facility
Police have charged three individuals involved in a drug dump at a local treatment facility. Employees at the New Hope Treatment Center told police they fond drugs in a bathroom. Someone had taped a large plastic bag under the lid of the trashcan in the women’s restroom. That bag contained five smaller baggies containing twenty Xanax pills, 2.3 grams of heroin with fentanyl, and 2.8 grams of methamphetamine. While at the center, inmate Amy Allison was brought in from the Cocke County jail for treatment and she questioned why police were there. Newport police contracted the jail and found that Allison was the only one scheduled for treatment that day. Officers checked the phone records from her cell and found while she had not made any calls, fellow inmate Scottie Gilliam had made several calls to her boyfriend Jamie Sluder who had been seem by police in the treatment center parking lot. Police listened to the recorded calls and heard Sluder in one call say the drugs had been put in place…Gilliam made a call to Sluder tro return and retrieve the drugs as Allison was unable to pick them up. Jamie Sluder has a warrant for his arrest for two counts of delivery of schedule II & IV drugs, plus conspiracy to introduce contraband into a penial institution. Both Gilliam and Allison are both being charged with conspiracy as well.
