Three Killed In Cocke County Crash
Three people were killed Friday night in a tragic car accident in Cocke County. The accident happened On US Highway 321, known locally as Hooper Highway near Baxter Road…close to the Sevier County line. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a 2013 Nissan Altima driven by 48 year old Chad Pippen was traveling northbound when his vehicle crossed the center line and entered the southbound lane. Pippen’s Altima went straight into the path of a Chevy Cobalt driven by 49 year old Angela Barnes. Both vehicles then came to rest in the ditch. Killed in the crash were both Pippen and Barnes along with 77 year old Ruby Shults, who was a passenger in Angela Barnes’ car. Pippen was not wearing a seatbelt, while both Barnes and Shults were. The cause of that crash is still under investigation by the Tennessee Highway patrol.
