Three Sentenced In Meth Ring In Greene County
Two individuals are headed to prison for their part in trafficking methamphetamine in East Tennessee, mainly in Greene County. 39 year old Steven Shelton of Greeneville and 45 year old Shannon Crittendon of Mosheim had both pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine. Shelton was sentenced to 14 years in prison, Crittendon was sentenced to 10 years. A third co-defendant, 46 year old Arthur Tidwell of Greeneville, had been previously sentenced to 15 years in prison on June 26th. According to court documents and evidence presented at sentencing, all three defendants were involved in distributing methamphetamine in and around the Greeneville area. The Tennessee Highway Patrol had pulled over Tidwell on a routine traffic stop and caught him with a significant amount of methamphetamine. Tidwell was released on bond, and was then arrested just over a month later in Greeneville with another large quantity of methamphetamine. Shelton and Crittenden sold methamphetamine to an individual working with law enforcement on five occasions, which led to a search warrant being executed at Shelton’s Greeneville residence where a large quantity of methamphetamine was found. The investigation revealed that Tidwell was supplying Shelton with methamphetamine, who was in turn supplying others, including Crittenden.
