Today Is Election Day
Today is election day in Tennessee. Voters head to the polls in this presidential primary election. Fourteen states, including Tennessee, are holding primary elections today. Alaska and Utah are holding Republican caucuses today. Former President Donald Trump could wrap up the republican nomination if he runs the table of states today.
Here in Cocke County, polls open at 9am this morning and will remain open until 8pm tonight. Also on the ballot in Cocke County is the republican primary for Assessor of Property between Macie Reed and Barry Huffines. Whoever wins the primary election today will be Assessor of Property as no one is running on the democrat side in the general election on August 1. Remember you must have your Tennessee or federal photo ID in order to vote.
Cocke County Administer of Elections, Josh Blanchard says that if you do not know where you are supposed to go vote, it’s very easy to find out. You can utilize the Tennessee Voter Lookup Tool on the website GoVoteTN.gov. Also, a reminder that those that vote in the Northport precinct will be voting now at the D.A.V. Building at 148 Pine Street in Newport. Those assigned to vote at Cocke County High School will be voting in the cafeteria this time. Schools are not is session today in Cocke County since some of the schools are used as polling places.
Josh Blanchard says registered voters must be in line to vote by 8 p.m. tonight at their correct precinct. Anyone in line at 8pm will be allowed to cast their ballot.
