Total Lunar Eclipse On Election Day
If you were up early today, you saw a rare sight…a total lunar eclipse happening on election day in the US. The eclipse began at 3:02 this morning and reached its peak at 5:59am. This is known as a blood moon because of the red hue that casts around and over the moon. A total lunar eclipse happens when the earth, sun and moon are in perfect alignment and the moon crosses into the earth’s shadow.
This was a special occasion this morning because this is the first total lunar eclipse on election day in US History. How rare is this phenomenon…well…the next total lunar eclipse that we will see on election day in the United States…November 8, 2394.
