Tractor Trailer Overturned Causing Traffic Nightmare

Traffic was a nightmare in Jefferson County earlier today. An 18 wheeler hauling hydrochloric acid overturned around mile marker 418 on Eastbound I-40 around 4am. That sent hydrochloric acid spilling across the interstate and a hazmat crew to he scene to clean up the mess. All Eastbound lanes of the interstate were closed for several hours. That sent a huge amount of traffic into downtown Dandridge as motorists traveling eastbound on I-40 had to detour off the interstate at exit 417 and onto State Hwy 92 to US Hwy 25-70 through Dandridge to link back up to I-40 at exit 424. Traffic was snarled in downtown Dandridge for hours. Two lanes of the interstate were finally reopened around 8 am and traffic slowly recovered.
