Trent Thomas Balson Trial Set For This Week

A motions hearing today in Cocke County Criminal Court in the case of Trent Thomas Balson. He is charged with second degree murder and voluntary manslaughter in the killing of Cas Walker back in September of 2019. According to investigators, Balson and Walker were arguing over drugs on the front porch of a home on New Cave Church Road when that argument turned violent and Balson stabbed Walker…a witness saw Balson holding the bloody knife before he fled. Balso claims self-defense. The Sway team had to be called to a home in White Pine the next day to apprehend Balson when he refused to come out of a home in White Pine where he was holed up. Balson’s trial is set to begin this Wednesday.
