Truck Driver Who Ran Over Another Driver In White Pine Now In Custody

The semi-truck driver that ran over another truck driver in the parking lot of a White Pine truck stop last month is now in custody. The incident happened back on January 12 at the Pilot Travel Center at exit 4 on I-81 in White Pine. 64 year old Gary Clark of Prattville, AL was walking in the parking lot when he was struck and killed by who at the time was an unknown truck driver. At the time that driver went into the travel center for a few minutes and when he came back out was told that he may have run over Clark. However, that driver got back in his truck and drove off.

Investigators say back on January 14, they were able to identify that driver as 70 year old John R. Emery Jr., of Chattanooga. The case was turned over to the District Attorney’s office at that time and according to the White Pine Police Department on January 29^th, the investigation concluded with a warrant issued for John Emery, Jr.

The White Pine Police Department announced on February 2, that Emery was taken into custody and is now in the Jefferson County Detention Center in Dandridge. He is being charged with Leaving The Scene Of An Accident With Death.
