TVA Releases Energy Usage Data
The TVA (Thursday) released some stats regarding energy usage during the hottest temperatures of the season this week. On Tuesday , 7/29, as the average temperature in East Tennessee reached 95 degrees, the preliminary peak for power was 31,563 megawatts. That was just shy of this summer’s earlier peak of 31,644 MW on July 17. However, on Wednesday, 7/30, with an average temperature of 93 degrees, the TVA says they reached a preliminary summer-to-date peak of 31,888 megawatts. That is lower than the expected 33,000 MW that was expected. The TVA says that so far though…those three peaks in the month of July, have exceeded the TVA’s peak for all of the summer of 2024. That happened last August when 31,096 MW was generated and the average temperature was 99 degrees in the area. The TVA says all those peaks are still well below the all-time summer peal of over 33,500 MW in august of 2007 and the all-time peaks of over 35,000 MW we set during both January 2025 and January 4024.
