Two Hour Standoff With Police In White Pine
A tense situation for police in Jefferson County on Tuesday. Jefferson County deputies were dispatched to a home in White Pine for a disturbance. A man had shown up at the residence with a gun. The suspect had left the scene before deputies arrived, but the suspect’s vehicle was spotted later on Walnut Street in White Pine. Jefferson County and White Pine authorities made a traffic stop. The suspect was 22 year old Deshawn Hamilton of Morristown. He told police if they approached his vehicle he would shoot himself or make officers shoot him. After a 2 hour standoff, Hamilton finally dropped the gun outside the vehicle and surrendered. He has been charged with aggravated assault.
