Two Injured In I-40 Rollover Crash In Cocke County
A crash that happened on Interstate 40 Monday afternoon left two people including a child injured. Around 1:45 Monday afternoon, 52 year old David Rathbun was driving a 2001 Ford F150 pickup on I-40 eastbound near mile marker 433 when he lost control of his truck, and ran off the right shoulder of the roadway and down an embanlment. The truck rolled over multiple times finally coming to rest on its top. Rathbunm who was wearing his seatbelt was injured…his 11 year old passenger, who was not restrained was ejected out the front windshield, suffering injuries. Both individuals were transported via albulance to the UT Medical Center in Knoxville. Rathbun was cited for failure to exercise due care and for violating the state’s child restraint law.
