Two SEC Pitchers Go In MLB Draft’s Top 10
Two pitchers from the SEC went in the top 10 of the MLB Draft last night. Jack Leiter of Vanderbilt was the #2 overall pick and went to the Texas Rangers. Going #10 to the New York Mets was Leiter’s teammate Kumar Rocker. One ESPN analyst believes that Rocker could move quickly in the Mets system and could actually be with the big league club before this season is over.
Two other pitchers from the SEC went in the top 20…Will Bednar from the College World Series champs Mississippi State went to the San Francisco Giants at #14…Gunnar Hoglund of Ole Miss went to the Blue Jays at pick #19.
