Two Suspects Wanted In NC Found During Traffic Stop

The Cocke County Sheriff’s office was contacted last week about assisting Madison County, NC officers with a traffic stop in Tennessee on east Hwy 25/70. Madison County deputies had pursued a vehicle with two suspects wanted in North Carolina across the state line. The two suspects were Heidi Banks and Randy Sutton. Banks was wanted on drug charges in Buncombe County, NC. Sutton was wanted for escape in Madison County. Both Banks and Sutton were transferred to the Cocke County jail since they were stopped in Tennessee. Banks informed deputies that she had drugs on her.

Once at the jail a search of Banks found an IceBreaker mint container stuffed in a body cavity. Inside the container was 30 grams of methamphetamine. Banks is now charged in Tennessee on charges of possession with intent to sell and being a fugitive from justice. Buncombe County, NC is also wanting to extradite her back to North Carolina for her charges there. Randy Sutton was detained for extradition back to Madison County, but they cancelled that extradition.
