Two Teens Dead In Shooting At Party In Hamblen County
Two teen-agers are dead after a shooting in Hamblen County over the weekend. Hamblen County Sheriff Chad Mullins says the shooting happened at an AIRBNB rental property on Old Poplar Road in Talbott early Sunday morning. According to Mullins, roughly 30 people, mainly juveniles, were at a party when shots rang out and people scattered. Two juveniles were found dead after the shooting. Their ages are 16 & 18. Two others were wounded in the shooting. They both had what were called non-life threatening injuries. Mullins says the shooting was due to “some past juvenile drama”. According to the sheriff, most of those in attendance were from the surrounding area, but there were a few from as far away as McMinn and Monroe counties.
Hamblen County Sheriff Office investigators along with the TBI are currently investigating the shooting. As of Sunday night, no one was in custody. Sheriff Mullins says many of the witnesses scattered and fled when the shots were fired. Investigators are trying to track down witnesses.
